TABLE TOPS
Natural Granite, Travertine, Slate, Stone, and/or Faux table tops should be cleaned routinely with mild liquid dish soap, warm water and a soft cloth to prevent staining and the growth of mold, mildew and contaminants. Follow with a fresh water rinse and thoroughly dry with another soft cloth. Spills should be removed quickly to avoid any possible staining. This is particularly important in the case of red wines, or citrus juices. The use of coasters is also recommended. Pressure washers, furniture polish, vinegar, petroleum based solvents or cleaners containing acid or abrasives should NOT be used. For stubborn stains, products such as Windex may be applied. For grout stains, most retail grout cleaners will be effective, however, over time, these cleaners may remove the protective sealant that was applied to the table top during manufacturing requiring the top to be resealed using any commercially available tile and grout sealer such as Aqua Mix. Follow the instructions carefully when resealing the top as build-up of the sealer may cause discoloration.
Tile table tops should be resealed every 6-12 months. It takes just a few minutes to distribute an even coat of the sealer and then wipe the top dry. Airborne dust and dirt can be removed with plain water. For thorough cleaning, use a pH-neutral cleaner such as Simple Green. Avoid ammonia-based cleaners, which can break down the sealant.
Tempered Glass and Patterned table tops may be cleaned with any non-ammonia glass cleaner, taking special care not to scratch the top's surface.
ALUMINUM FRAME FINISHES
To prevent growth of mold and mildew, regular washing and thorough rinsing of the aluminum frame with mild liquid detergent & warm water is suggested & will remove surface dirt, outdoor contaminants and body oils. The periodic application of a good automobile wax on the frame will help extend the life & beauty of your furniture. Do NOT wash your furniture by placing it into the swimming pool or use any harsh abrasives or cleaning solutions. DO NOT store your furniture or table tops in a position that will allow moisture to accumulate inside the tubing or on the top where it may freeze during the winter months. FREEZE DAMAGE IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY!!
ALL-WEATHER WICKER
Rattan and wicker frames require very little maintenance. Vacuum or use a soft brush with mild detergent and warm water to remove soil. Using a sponge, wash with mild detergent & warm water to remove soil. Rinse and allow to dry thoroughly before use. If the wicker becomes worn, scratched, or chipped, lightly sand the problem area with fine grit sandpaper. Clean and dry the area, then use touch-up spray paint (available at Sunnyland).
JARRAH FURNITURE (Eucalyptus Marginata)
The amount of care required by your Jensen Jarrah furniture is directly related to the amount of exposure to the weather and the color you wish to maintain. Maintenance is as easy as you want it to be. To preserve the original “showroom” color it should be protected from the elements, especially strong sun light, heavy rain and snow. You can preserve and enhance the reddish colors by coating regularly with a timber treatment such as Jarrah Colorguard, storing it under a covered patio and re-coating annually, and using a breathable protective cover (available at Sunnyland). As wood is a natural product it should not be stored under plastic as this will inhibit the flow of air around the furniture and may cause mildew to form or distort the wood. Of course, your setting will stand up to the elements quite well, even if totally neglected! All that will happen is that the original color will change to silver gray on the timber surface. You will see this begin to happen as soon as three to four months in harsh conditions, if the timber is left untreated. If your setting has become gray it is possible to restore the original color, too.
WROUGHT IRON FRAMES
It is recommended that at least twice a year, you wax your frames with an automotive type wash/wax, or more specifically, where both the wash and wax are contained within the same bottle. Follow the directions on the bottle. The frames should be rinsed again thoroughly to remove any residue. It is recommended that before waxing the frames, they should be inspected for chips in the finish, which may occur under normal usage. Any chips or scratches can be easily repaired by following the instructions on the back of a can of touch-up paint.
TEAK FURNITURE
Clean the teak with a solution of mild detergent and water to remove dirt and grime. Use a clean rag or sponge to gently clean the wood; then rinse well with clean water. Never use a brass brush, pressure washer or steel wool as they will damage and discolor the teak surface For “emergency” spot cleaning of severe stains, use a nylon scouring pad (lowest abrasiveness for household use) instead of a rag or sponge; or lightly sand the affected area using a fine sandpaper (250 grit). Remember that the use of any abrasive pad or paper will affect the finish, requiring you to reseal the affected area.
Sealing the furniture every 8 months will help it keep its natural beauty. Even if you’ve left your teak to weather into silver-gray, you can always bring back its rich, natural color. with a wood cleaner. When teak is exposed to the sun and weather, the natural oils migrate to the surface of the wood. Our cleaner helps to restore the natural beauty.
MILDEW
Mildew often forms on dirty surfaces. However, regular cleaning will help to prevent its forming. If mildew stains should develop on non-printed vinyl coated polyester fabric, prepare a mild chlorine bleach and soapy water solution as follows: 1 cup bleach per gallon of water and 2 capfuls mild liquid detergent. Spray on the entire area and allow to soak in. Rinse thoroughly. Repeat if necessary. An alternative method would be to use either "X-14" or another household mildew remover. Follow directions on labels.
VINYL STRAPS
Just like the frame, vinyl strapping should be cleaned frequently with mild soap and water. If you own furniture with woven straps or lacing, be sure to lift and clean beneath the strap or lace intersections. Avoid abrasive cleaners. The use of commercial casual furniture cleaners (available at Sunnyland) will help lift embedded dirt and oil. We also recommend periodic waxing of the straps with an automotive paste wax.
Caution: Certain suntan and sun block products contain "Paba". Paba is harmful to vinyl and can permanently discolor it; therefore, contact with vinyl straps or lacing should be avoided. If contact is made, cleaning the vinyl immediately with a non-abrasive, mild soap and water solution followed by a fresh water rinse may minimize the possibility of discoloration. We recommend that a towel be placed over the vinyl when using tanning products (be aware that the oils and lotions can be absorbed thru a towel).
UMBRELLA CARE & MAINTENANCE
Do NOT wash the umbrella or its cover by placing it into the swimming pool or use any harsh abrasives or cleaning solutions and do NOT store the umbrella in a position that will allow moisture or snow to accumulate inside the umbrella frame and/or pole and freeze during the winter months. WIND & FREEZE DAMAGE IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY!! The upper pole and ribs of the umbrella should be lubricated occasionally with WD-40 or a similar product. Do NOT spray the lubricant on the umbrella fabric or lubricate the crank mechanism as it may cause discoloration or damage.
UMBRELLA, CUSHION & GLASS WARRANTY
Glass is not warranted. Extreme care must be taken when using an umbrella in a glass top table. (An umbrella stand is necessary under the to hold the umbrella. At any time, the wind could gust and carry the umbrella as a sail to cause the table to turn over and break the glass. As a result, the glass would not be covered under warranty.
Umbrellas and cushions have a one (1) year warranty from the date of purchase. The warranty does not cover natural fading from sunlight. Umbrellas are warranted structurally (under normal use and conditions). Please exercise caution when using your umbrella and only have the umbrella open when you are enjoying your patio set. We cannot warranty an umbrella which has been left open and gets damaged from a high gust of wind.
CUSHIONS & FABRICS
Do not use bleach unless specifically listed as a cleaning agent for your fabric.
The life of your fabric largely depends on its care and use. Certain suntan and sun block products may permanently discolor any fabric. This possibility can be minimized by immediately cleaning after contact. It is important to clean your fabric regularly. In addition, storing your cushions when not is use, or using furniture covers will extend their life. Also, fabric life can be extended by simply hosing down your furniture regularly with water. Hint: Cushions dry faster if they are allowed to stand on their sides while drying.
