We would love to have you cook at the 7th Annual North Texas EggFest on Saturday, Octomber 21, 2023 outside of Sunnyland Outdoor Living at Coit and Spring Valley in Dallas!  This event is the perfect opportunity to show off your skills and share your favorite recipes.Registration is open to everyone with or without culinary experience, and the entry fee is FREE*.  

Our guests are very friendly and want your expert advice on recipes, cooking techniques, etc.  By participating in the Eggfest as a cook, you will get to become part off the EggHead family and receive special benefits including:

• Cash payouts for all teams based on People's Choice voting plus a percentage of ticket sales to help you cover your expenses
• All teams will receive Sunnyland employee pricing on any Big Green Egg items they want to purchase
• Additonal prizes for our top team based on votes by our celebrity judging panel as well as the People's Choice Award

In addition, all teams will receive the following:

• One (1) Big Green Egg of your choice to cook on during event (Large or X-Large)
• One (1) 10x10 tent and one (1) 8ft table
• Conveggtor, gripper, charcoal, starter
• Food handling gloves & paper towels
• 2oz. sample cups, forks, spoons, toothpicks
• Soft drinks, water, breakfast, coffee, snacks

*REFUNDABLE REGISTRATION DEPOSIT

Your registration date will determine your placement this year - early birds will get to pick the best spots for their team.

Every team will pay a $50 fully refundable registration deposit to secure their team spot. This deposit will be refunded at the conclusion of EggFest as long as you compete at the event. If you need to cancel your registration or you do not show up to the event, your deposit will not be refunded and instead will be donated to Chef to the Shelters.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FOR COOK TEAMS

Do I need to provide my own Big Green Egg?

No, you don’t! We provide each team with a Big Green Egg and Big Green Egg charcoal. If you would like to bring your Big Green Egg, feel free to! We will still provide you with at least 1 new Big Green Egg to cook on. 

What is the entry fee for a cook team?

There is no entry fee it is FREE* (with refundable registration depsoit) to enter a team. We do ask that you keep the team to no more than 6 people. 

What size Big Green Egg will I receive?

Every cook team will receive their choice of a Large or X-Large Big Green Egg. Teams may request a 2nd egg and they will be approved based on availability of demos eggs.

How many cook team members are allowed on each team?

Each team is allowed 6 cook team members. If you are wanting more members, consider entering two teams. 

How many samples do I need to provide?

You should plan on providing minimum of 300 to 600small tastings/samples to other guests (more is fine of course). Samples are not servings - for example if you are serving a slider it should be cut in 2s or 4s. Samples could be wings, meatballs, slices of cake, or many other bite size pieces. For example, a boneless skinless chicken thigh could be cut into 4 to 8 pieces, and served perhaps on a toothpick or in a small cup. Remember, cooks are providing tastings, not a meal.

What if I signed up a cook team but I can no longer make it?

Registration fees are non-refundable if you are not able to show up for the event and the depsoit will be doanted to Chef to the Shelters on your team's behalf. Exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basic or due to event cancellation.

Is the food I buy for the event tax deductible?

Since this is a fundraiser for Chef to the Shelters, what you spend on the event will be tax-deductible. On the day of the event, if you provide us dated receipts for all of the food and supplies you bought for the event, we will hand you a signed form with the total of the receipts, stating you made a charitable contribution, which will then be tax-deductible under Internal Revenue Code regulations.

Will there be power where my cook team is set up?

Unfortuately, we have not found an easy way to get power to the tents yet. 

What time can I start cooking?

Our official cook team start time is 8 AM Saturday morning and all eggs should be fired up by 10 AM. If you are interested in starting earlier or staying overnight, please reach out to us to make arragements.

When should we have are samples ready for tasting?

The event and tasting begins at 11:00am. The event ends at 3:00pm, so the closer you can continue to serve until 3:00pm the better. 

What will be provided?

Tent (unless you are bringing one), Big Green Egg, Charcoal, Starter, Grid Gripper, 8 Ft Banquet Table, 2 Chairs, Conveggtor, Food Handling Gloves, Paper Towels, Hand Sanitizer, Trash Cans, Sunnyland’s Sun-Sational Seasoning Blend , forks, spoons, toothpicks, and 2 oz sample cups. Anything else that you would need, feel free to bring. 

What food can I cook?

That is completely up to you! A Big Green Egg can cook almost anything you throw at it. You can cook anything from bbq to pizza to desserts. There is no rule on what you can or cannot cook. You will just need to provide samples for the attendees. You only need to cook 1 thing but if you want to do multiple variations feel free to!

Are there Awards?

This is a friendly cooking competition during a wonderful day raising money for Chef to the Shelters, but it’s always fun to win some awards! Our people's choice award will give all attendees an opportunity to vote for sevearl of their favortie teams with each vote earning you cash. In addition, we will have mininum cash prizes for top 5 teams. There will also be prizes for the top teams selected by our celebrity judging panel.
